In an exciting new press conference with Professor Zahra today, 3 of the 4 currently discovered Genesis Forms were revealed. Zahra was nice enough to sit down with us and answer some of our burning questions about the current forms: Arsinoceros, Venophlame, and Khelshark!

Q: What are the effects of Genesis Forms in battle?
Zahra: So Genesis Forms function a little bit like the previously discovered mega evolution phenomenon in Kalos. The way they work is that each trainer can only activate one Genesis form per battle. It will remain in that form until it reaches at or below 25% of its health. At that point, the Pokemon will go back into its normal state, but any stat boosts it may have gotten as a Genesis Form will remain. The battle then carries on as usual. We use the phrase "Genesize" to indicate that a Pokemon has converted to its Genesis Form. Therefore, once a Pokemon Genesizes, no other Pokemon can Genesize for the rest of the battle at any point. This is due to the overwhelming Origin Energy consumed during the battle, so there's not enough to make another Pokemon Genesize.
Q: How does going Genesis affect the Pokemon's stats, moveset, etc.?
Zahra: When a Pokemon Genesizes, its most prominent stat gets a 50% boost. If there are stat ties, then the Pokemon's most used stat gets the boost. In terms of the movesets, here's where we've discovered something truly unique to Carah. It turns out that when a Pokemon Genesizes, they actually gain new moves called Genesis Moves that are specific to the Genesis Form, only two of which can be learned at a time. These moves are all powered up and have unique secondary effects. However, the other moves of the Pokemon don't vanish at all. This means that a Genesis Form can have up to 6 moves in battle. These "Genesis Movesets," as we're choosing to call them, are also unique to each Pokemon. There are anywhere from 5-6 Genesis Moves that each Pokemon with a Genesis Form can learn, and trainers can pick two to teach their Pokemon.
What are Genesis Abilities?
Zahra: Genesis Abilities are essentially a powered up version of a Pokemon's regular or hidden ability. Pokemon can only have one, and for the starters, their Genesis Abilities are powered up versions of their hidden abilities - Rock Head, Flash Fire, and Swift Swim.
How can trainers access Genesis Forms?
Zahra: In order for trainers to access Genesis Forms, they need to have an item that we've called the G-Necklace. This necklace glows when there is enough Origin Energy to Genesize a Pokemon, but this usually occurs by the time the Pokemon are fully evolved. The necklace also contains a special stone called the Origem, which is what draws in the Origin Energy and supplies it to the Pokemon to allow the biological alteration to occur. We're not entirely sure of its location at this point.

Can you tell us your favorite Genesis Form by far?
Zahra: That's difficult, because they all look stunning. I'd have to say Khelshark is my favorite, however.
That's all we had time to ask her, so please be on the watchout for more posts!
